Backup & recovery
Microsoft hosts your data. Protecting it is still your job.
Microsoft 365 runs on a shared-responsibility model: Microsoft keeps the platform online, but the data inside it — emails, SharePoint sites, OneDrive files, Teams conversations — is your responsibility. Retention policies and the recycle bin are not a backup. A malicious or accidental deletion, a ransomware sync or a lapsed account can remove data permanently.
